Background
Matthew is the founding Principal of Intellect Labs, a non-dilutive funding advisory firm based in Brisbane specialising in R&D Tax Incentive compliance, grant strategy, collaboration management, and strategy and advisory work for innovative commercial businesses.
Before founding Intellect Labs, Matthew practised in R&D tax incentive advisory at national accounting firms BDO and Grant Thornton, and led R&D advisory work within IPH Limited's advisory practice, including Griffith Hack and Glasshouse Advisory, one of Australia's preeminent intellectual property groups.

Professional Contributions

He has published in Tax Specialist, The Tax Institute's peer-reviewed journal, including “Fighting IP migration with tax incentives: an Australian patent box regime” and “Policy considerations for an Australian patent box regime”. Matthew has prepared and submitted over 1,000 R&D Tax Incentive claims, representing well into the hundreds of millions of dollars in R&D expenditure claimed.
He has not had a claim he has prepared reduced or disallowed at a completed ATO or DISR compliance review, and has secured favourable outcomes across multiple advance findings, overseas findings, and private binding rulings with the ATO.
